...is a body-based approach to healing that is focused on the non-verbal communication of the brain and body. The main therapeutic modalities I use are Somatic Experiencing and the Expressive Arts. The use of Expressive Arts as a modality in session can include Guided Drawing, Painting, Dance, Collage, and more.
Somatic Experiencing is a trauma resolution therapy where we foster your body's innate wisdom to respond to internal and external stressors. Through bringing awareness to the natural rhythm of your nervous system you will build the capacity to trust your inner guidance and re-establish self efficacy.
Guided Drawing is a sensory based exercise that involves tapping into both the right and left brain through the perception and movement of the right and left hand at the same time. This is important because we perceive and explore the world through touch beginning in utero. Years before verbal communication is online. Therefore, Guided Drawing gives us access to trauma or stressors that occur during our pre-verbal years that may inform our current day behaviors, motor skills, disorders, syndromes and more.
The Expressive Arts is a resource that allows us to tap into the non-verbal parts of the brain (brain stem + Limbic) that house our alarm systems (Fight-Flight) and begin to learn the language of those parts. Providing you insights into your inner guidance and sustainably re-establish confidence and agency.

“Trauma is a fact of life. It does not, however, have to be a life sentence. Not only can trauma be healed, but with appropriate guidance and support, it can be transformative.”
